Saskatchewan Book Week was first declared by the Saskatchewan Minister of Parks, Culture, and Sport in 2016 as a way to celebrate the more than 40 years of book publishing by Saskatchewan businesses. That was also the year that Coteau Books and Thistledown Press celebrated their 40th anniversaries! We wanted to showcase some of the incredible books being produced in our province, and thus began Book Week.

The vision was to bring Saskatchewan books closer to Saskatchewan people, so the folks at SaskBooks worked with the folks at regional libraries, schools, and tourism and community centres to present eleven books from nine publishers in five historic locations throughout Saskatchewan, over the course of just five days. It was a lot, but we did it, and you loved it.

SaskBooks is grateful to Department of Canadian Heritage, Creative Saskatchewan, and Tourism Saskatchewan for their support of Saskatchewan Book Publishing Week.
