James Trettwer’s story collection, Thorn-Field, is his first book, published by Thistledown Press. Before this, he has been most recently published in TRANSITION magazine, Spring Magazine, and the short story anthology Wanderlust, also published by Thistledown. The stories from his collection have previously won in the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild Short Manuscript Awards and the John V. Hick’s Long Manuscript Awards. James received his BA in English literature from the University of Regina in 1997. The late, great Gordon Howe was conferred an honorary Doctor of Laws at the same Spring convocation ceremony, James like to say, “Hey! I graduated with Gordie Howe!” James currently writes in Regina where he lives with Sherry and their fat, little dog Maggie.
